MEA Physicians and Physician Assistants (PA’s) Certified for DOT Physical Exams!

  • The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (National Registry), a new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program, requires all medical examiners (ME’s) who wish to perform physical examinations for interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to be trained and certified in FMCSA physical qualification standards.
  • MEA Physicians and Physician Assistants (PA’s) have completed the required training and are currently updated on their certification. Our ME’s fully understand the medical standards in the FMCSA regulations related to guidelines and how they relate to the medical demands of operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • MEA Physicians and PA’s are now included in an online directory on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners website: www.nrcme.fmcsa.dot.gov
  • CMV drivers in interstate commerce MUST use  ME’s listed on the National Registry to obtain a medical examiner’s certificate (medical card) beginning May 21, 2014. Medical cards issued prior to this date will stand until date of expiration.
